I don't like it. It's trying too hard to be "cool," like a cool surf shirt on a nerdy person.
The background image is ok, but the wings REALLY detract from the lettering. And jeez, but .... do the "Cornerstone/Capstone" names HAVE to be in the dead center of the shirt? That's kinda lame.
If you want to keep the image, I'd move CStone/CStone to either the top or the bottom and find a new place to write "NCC"
...but honestly, I'd send this one back to the drawing board. ;)
Sorry, but I totally disagree with the previous. I think it's hot! The only critique I have is that the background graphic appears to be cropped in too tight on the bottom and left side (only the lower portions of the graphic though).
I'll admit that at first glance you get lost a bit in the name overlay on the graphic and it's a bit difficult to read, but that only draws you in with more interest to figure out what it's saying... then once you are drawn in, your eye wonders around and picks up on the other details, like the verse tucked in behind the lettering.
If it's trying to be cool, then it hit the mark.

there's "interesting" and "captivating"... and then there's "so busy it's one big mess"
current design (as posted here) is too messy to communicate anything -- too many ideas going on in one design.
Focus. Center on a central punchy image. Let that float to the forefront and not obscure the Captstone & Cornerstone names.
If you look at the surfer/rocker/biker style this design is trying to emulate, you never see such a trainwreck of ideas in one shirt -- not without something more unifying.... unless the shirt design isn't trying to communicate ANYTHING (which isn't the case for this shirt).

Clayton is an incredible graphic designer. He does some phenomenal work.
I somewhat agree with you though Lori, I think it is too messy. It needs focus. This doesn't have that. This is the design that Matt came up with for me. It was something from the top of his head before we had a chance to sit down and talk. I talked to him today though and he's going to get some more ideas for me to look at.
One thing about these designs is that they never look exactly like they do on a real t-shirt. Some times they look better and some times they look worse.
